The island was intended to be the site of Jurassic Park, a tourist attraction featuring living biological dinosaurs cloned from prehistoric DNA. The park was closed and abandoned before it could open due to multiple containment breaches, but was later reclaimed and successfully served as the site of a new tourist park, Jurassic World, which opened to the public in 2004. After over ten years of successful operation, another containment breach by the Indominus rex resulted in the destruction of the park and the abandonment of its dinosaurs.
In the end, 13 people, including Nedry himself, had died. All dinosaurs on the island were unleashed and all survivors were sworn to secrecy, although Malcolm went against this and tried to reveal what had happened only to become an outcast. The island was kept from the public for years, until the San Diego Incident involving another island, Isla Sorna. Even though these two islands were vastly different, some people confused the two islands as one. In 1994, an InGen clean-up team went to the island to perform an analysis of the incident and record the current state of the island's dinosaur inhabitants. Their report, published in 1996, documented the state of the park and noted that while animal numbers were reduced, a relatively stable ecosystem had been established. They also recorded they had discovered the remains of adolecsent Velociraptors (suggesting the presence of a sustained population on the island) and the presence of Compsognathus, a species bred on Isla Sorna but which had never been transported to Nublar (it was suggested they hopped between islands via cargo ships).
The dubious legal status of the island ensured the Isla Nublar population remained relatively undisturbed until the early 2000s. Sometime after the events of Jurassic Park III, Simon Masrani, the new CEO of InGen following John Hammond's passing, started the construction of a new, much larger dinosaur theme park, Jurassic World, in the southern part of Isla Nublar. The park started off with 8 species of dinosaurs that possibly came from the original park, such as the Tyrannosaurus rex. But over the years the number of species on the island grew to 20, both through cloning and transporting animals from Isla Sorna (the ecosystem of which had been irrevocably damaged by Masrani illegally cloning undocumented species such as the Spinosaurus and releasing them on the island). Many of the buildings of the old park, like the Visitor Center[6], are still on the island, but are overgrown by the jungle and inaccessible to park guests.
So eventually, InGen's corporate funders felt that advances in genetic modification could allow them to meet the demands of the public wanting a dinosaur that meets the idea of \"BIGGER, LOUDER, MORE TEETH\". Masrani and Eli Mills requested Dr Henry Wu, the lead scientist in InGen, one who also worked in the original Jurassic Park, to create a hybrid dinosaur. One that were to fit the demands. Following this, Wu created the world's first hybrid dinosaur, the Scorpios Rex. It was not easy making this animal. Many attempts were made to successfully create it, but those failed. This specimen was labeled as E750. Masrani stated that this animal was too un-worldly, monster-like, to be put on display to the visitors. Wu however, still insisted on keeping it, and not destroying it. One day, after barely managing to survive an attack from the hybrid, Wu realized how dangerous this animal would be if it were let free in an enclosure. And how devastating it would be for the park if it escaped. Because of this, Wu shut down the E750 project, and put the specimen into a cryogenic sleep. Not many knew about the Scorpios, and Wu kept all evidence of it ever existing hidden.
In Jurassic World, a summer camp program was launched, titled \"Camp Cretaceous\". This summer camp was a seasonal event that was for children and teenagers to learn more about the park and the dinosaurs. During 2015, which was the opening year of this summer camp, six teens got the chance to partake in it. However, the first ever Camp Cretaceous did not go according to plan, due to the Indominus Incident. The camp-site was left abandoned, and the kids were lost in the wild of Isla Nublar. The kids missed the evacuation of Isla Nublar, and were stuck in the island for a long while. During their unexpectedly long stay in the island, some minor accidents happened, that lead to the unintended release of the Scorpios Rex.
Isla Nublar is seamount, a volcanic upthrusting of rock from the ocean floor; however, that description does not quite fit. The island of Hawaii was formed the same way. The heat that is still produced from the old volcano provides geothermal power to the park's electricity generating systems; because of this the island is still hot in some areas and often even hot under foot. The island lies covered in fog due to this heat and the prevailing currents. The climate is tropical, with dense jungles and two rivers running across the island to the East & Northern Coasts. The island is described in the novels as being tear drop shaped, thicker at the north than at the south. The island measures 8 miles long and 3 miles wide at the widest point, making about a total area size of about 22 square miles. There also is a large lake to the north and massive aviary toward the center of the island. The highest peak of the island is roughly about 2,100 feet. The island is close to, but not a part of an island chain which according to the movie, was originally called \"Las Cinco Muertes\" (\"The Five Women\"), but, in the story, in recent years danger from the dinosaurs gave the islands a bad reputation among fishermen and the name was distorted to \"Las Cinco Muertes\" (\"The Five Deaths\").
A smaller species of whitetail deer, the Nublar whitail is one of the largest native herbivores of five islands in the pacific ocean, near Costa Rica. The average doe weighs around 65 lbs and is 40% smaller than it's relatives on the mainland. It is a very common herbivore on the majority of the islands. They can be found on all of the five deaths, except for Isla Sorna, where they are regionally extinct due to invasive wildlife. They live in small herds of around 10-15 in dense forest and plains. They are a common prey item for the native predators. Sometimes, in a few rare cases, they will ''flock'' with herbivorous dinosaurs and another native mammal, tufted deer.
The five deaths eagle is a subspecies of Harpy eagle found on the Los Cincos Muertos, or the five deaths, as well as a few other islands such as Isla Nublar. They are nearly identical to the harpy eagle, besides a black stripe running down its chest and belly, meeting its tail. Before the introduction of invasive wildlife, it was among the apex predators of the islands, feeding mostly on arboreal mammals such as monkeys and sloths. In certain circumstances, they will prey on larger mammals, such as deer, peccary, Noche Gato, and even the largest native terrestrial carnivore, Diego's wolf. The only natural predators of the eagle are large snakes, and any larger animal that can catch it (such as the native crocodilians.) Due to human-caused habitat loss, the eagle's population size is decreasing. Luckily, the eagles of Sorna and Nublar aren't preyed upon or compete with Mesozoic wildlife, excluding pterosaurs. They have been known to prey on smaller dinosaurs such as microceratus.
They are darker colored and are nocturnal. They are slightly smaller. They do not compete with any dinosaurs. However, while coelurus was still roaming about the island, they faced predation from such animals. They sleep in trees during the day. They have been observed during previous eruptions, implying that they originated before. One theory as to how they managed is because they reside far from mount sibo. Another is that their food source, ants, have also managed. Although the construction of Jurassic world and the previous park Jurassic Park had caused the population to become endangered. Many anteaters were captured and put into the pet trade illegally. People who were caught were arrested and the anteaters were sent to a sanctuary. After mount sibo finished erupting, it was found that they went extinct on the island. The charred bodies of them and other animals, including dinosaurs, littered their former range. Currently they reside only in the Australian anteater sanctuary, though no anteaters are native to Australia(correct me if I am wrong). Fifty individuals exist there. And so, the nublar anteater had went extinct on nublar, but exists in an Australian sanctuary for anteaters.
The Nublar Tufted Deer was brought to Isla Nublar as livestock by natives who had been wiped out by one of Mt. Sibo's eruption. But the deer remained. With no real predators other than a Tayra occasionally taking fawns, the population exploded, with the only set backs being the eruptions of Mt. Sibo. Then one day the new natives on the island were forced away, and a new kind of human arrived on the island. They built massive structures, Ingen then proceeded to bring in some strange new, deadly genetic monstrosities to the island, but they barely affected thetufted deer even when they gained control of the island. What really caused the first decline of the tufted deer was some new competition. While dinosaurs couldn't eat the grass or leaves the deer could (they ate ferns and higher branches, although some were undigested as well), but goats and cattle could. For the first time the deer took a rapid decline, leaving only a quarter of the population. But during the construction of Jurassic World, the goats and cattle were rounded up, and the saurian predators dealt with, the population began rising,in five years it had already reached the population before the dinosaurs, but good things don't last forever. After the 2015 Jurassic World incident, the far larger predator count caused the livestock herds on the island to be nearly extinct along with the deer itself. By 2018 the deer population was at it's lowest, and teams were restricted from going to the island to rescue the deer. This finally reached it's climax when a group of mercenaries and the DPG rescued some of the dinosaurs, but the native wildlife wasn't given such a fate. Upon the eruption of Mt. Sibo and the devastation of Nublar's ecosystem, the deer went extinct in the wild. With that the last herd (or animals scattered around an exhibit that rarely meet up, as this entire species doesn't herd) of 30 individuals now resides in the San Diego Zoo, making these the last Nublar Tufted Deer. 59ce067264
